WHAT’S GOING ON THIS WEEK?
On 14 September 2020, the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) will hold the opening lecture ASIPI: An Academy to lead change (in Spanish). The lecture is part of the inaugural ceremony of the courses recently launched by ASIPI Academy. The speaker is Professor Manuel Desantes (University of Alicante). Elisabeth Siemsen do Amaral will inaugurate the academic year.
The webinar Intellectual Property Management in Sports Events will take place on 15 September 2020. The event is organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI). The opening speakers are Luiz Edgard Montaury Pimenta (ABPI) and José Graça Aranha (WIPO). The panellists are Carlos Castro (International Olympic Committee), Fernanda Magalhães (ABPI) and Vicente Rosenfeld (FIFA). Luiz Edgard Montaury Pimenta will moderate the session.
On the same day, the Launch of Innovation Cooperation Project Brazil - Denmark will be streamed on YouTube. The event is organized by the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI Brazil), the Danish Innovation Center (ICDK) and the Royal Danish Embassy in Brasília.
Meanwhile, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), Elzaburu and Moda España are organizing the webinar WIPO PROOF: Digital evidence to protect intangible assets (in Spanish) also on 15 September 2020. The webinar is addressed to the creative industries.
On 16 September 2020, the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI) will hold the webinar Regional Courts specialized in IP matters (in Portuguese). The panellists are Dr Ney Wiedemann Neto (TJRS), Dr Alexandre Kosby Boeira (Regional Court of Novo Hamburgo) and Dra. Márcia Nunes de Barros (Federal Court). The opening speaker is Roner Fabris.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is offering the webinar Filing an international application (in Spanish) also on 16 September 2020. The event will cover the steps for filing international trademark applications under the Madrid System. The speaker is Ignacio Daza Sanroma.
The WIPO Conference on the Global Digital Content Market will take place from 16 to 18 September 2020. The program “will address the impact of the latest digital developments on creative content and new business models in various sectors: music, publishing, film, broadcasting, video games, and fashion”. The webinar What is the OEM doctrine and why it is important for avoiding a trademark infringement in China? (in English and Spanish) will be held on 17 September 2020. The event is organized by the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI). The speakers are Aaron D. Hurvitz (USA), Daniel de Prado (China), and Gordiano Casas (China). Andrés F. Grunewaldt will moderate the session.
